TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR THE COMMITTEE ON YOUTH EMPOWERMENT
Terms of Reference
1. Overall Objective:
The objective is to provide an environment for youths to increase their economic activities and take charge of their lives by participating in vocational training appropriate to economic value chains in Ijebu Imusin and its environment.
2. Specific Objectives;
i. To enhance the training of the youths by providing support (materials, equipment, and office consumables) as well as providing support for start-ups.
ii. iii. Bring together youths for civic commitment through discussions and information sharing. Source, fund and provide the resources required to deliver the various trainings where necessary (including but not limited to sports, entertainment, career development, various vocations, etc).
iv. v. vi. Training on soft skills to be learnt to aid attitudinal change for progress.
Carry out vocational training for youths to help make them financially independent. Introduce young people to the values of leadership, volunteering, and social entrepreneurship.
vii. Support youths who have undergone vocational trainings with economic start-up kits.
viii. Establish a mentoring mechanism for start-ups.
3. Expected Results
i. Youth are economically empowered through articulate vocational trainings (IT,
tailoring/embroidery, cookery/pastries etc.)
ii. iii. Youth are supported with start-up kits.
Our youths become ambassadors for peace and progress.
iv. Youths’ are trained on skills acquisition, the values of leadership, volunteering, and social entrepreneurship.
v. A business mentoring strategy for start-ups is established.
4. Methodology
The methodology to be adopted for the realization of the above activity and the achievement of the said objectives will be a focus on existing Centres/Foundation /Individuals/Existing Youth organizations/ groups that have demonstrated a sound mastery of youth empowerment program and are currently involved in the execution of activities related to such programs. Where such organizations do not exist, the committee will have to create the structure required
to deliver its objectives.
5. Youth Empowerment
The selected Centre /Individuals/existing Youth organization/groups will provide the facility for the promotion of youth socioeconomic enhancement in Ijebu Imusin and its Environs and will be closely monitored and evaluated by the Committee.
6. Funding
The project will be funded by donations through the following channels:
• Donations from High Net-Worth individuals;
• Crowd Funding; and
• Others channels as may be identified by the Committee from time to time
7. Beneficiaries/Participants
• Direct beneficiaries: Indigenes and Residents of Ijebu-Imusin.
• Indirect beneficiaries: the local population (youths) across Ijebu- Imusin & Environs.
• Others as identified by the Committee
8. Eligibility and Selection Criteria
To be determined by the Committee
Membership of the Committee (5-9)
i. A member of the Executive Committee Between four & eight (4-8) other persons from the general assembly At least 2 persons in the committee must have experience in Youth Development programs
